CONNECTIV

Connectiv is an exploration of time as a means of human connection. Not only does time allow us to coordinate our schedules and plan our lives, but it has the ability to transcend distance and location. It exists as an object of reference that can be shared. Referencing imagery of physical connection and global time, this project aims to manifest those ideas into an original timepiece.

IDEATION

The idea behind my ideation was to capture the idea of connection in physical form. My sketches focus on iterations of having two ends of a watch that would have to come together to be worn. Whether they overlap, merge in the center, or connect on their sides, the activity of connecting them embodies my larger characterisation of time.

In addition to the functional element of connecting the watch, the display includes a feature that references time’s ability to transcend distance. A blue icon will appear when a paired device is being worn. It will show you what time it is in their location as well as showing them what time it is in yours.
